Eyepiece Cases

Practical Way to Store and Protect Valuable Eyepieces

Josh Moyer Custom Wood Eyepiece Case

The above eyepiece case was custom-built by Josh Moyer (Florida). I had two of these cases constructed to my specifications in order to have a "home" for my eyepiece collection, while being able to get to them very easily for observing. The case has velcro rails and removeable wooden strips which hold either (4) 1.25" eyepieces or (3) 2" eyepieces. As can be seen in the photo above, this case is in the configuration to hold (9) 2" and (24) 1.25" eyepieces (and related accessories, such as diagonals and binoviewer). Josh makes extremely high quality wooden cases, with brass hardware and highly finished wood (type of wood is selectable). Josh can install heaters, lights, and other accessories in these cases. Below are a couple of additional views of the cases and how I have them configured. I have several spare strips, so I can re-configure the cases, as needed.

Televue Soft Eyepiece Case

TVcase1

The above eyepiece case is made by Televue, and is similar to the cases for some of their small refractor scopes. This case is economical (about $75 used) and provides great protection for valuable eyepieces going into the field. The case comes with foam cut-outs and inserts for each of the cut-outs, so it can be customized for whatever eyepieces and other accessories are needed. In the above case, I have about 10 Panoptic and Nagler eyepieces, a Meade bino pair, the Stellarvue binoviewer, and one of the Powermates.
